Young Deuces - No Mercy ft. Dear Silas

image.png

Who has been on your music radar throughout this “pandemonium” pandemic?

With consciousness, authenticity, truth seeking, and the empowerment of the Black voice being one of our save and grace, Dear Silas has been one of those names. So just imagine how excited we were to see that one of our highly connected MKE based creatives, Young Deuces, has partnered up with Dear Silas to bring us a new track that has some elevation and novelty to perceptions that all too often go unnoticed.

Produced by super producer K. Mel Beatz, “No Mercy” is a powerful but clean track of melodic undertones, descriptive lyrics, on edge with the mental olympics it takes to get through life. [How relevant is that?]

Though this is not feel good music, it’s REAL good music and that’s what we respect. The creative play through hard topics, that sometimes take on moods that we all feel but are too consumed to discuss. As Young Deuces and Dear Silas navigate the beat for 4 minutes and 18 seconds you become moved, reflective and centered in this fight [for whatever we are still fighting for}.

Plus with some pop culture cover art referencing that Naruto anime style its at minimum worth a listen, a play back and then a playlist add.

Thank us later.

Young Deuces - Fly Me ft. Serita Campbell (Video Submission)

image (9).png

‘Fly Me’ is a cry for clarity. Young Deuces calls about society in every line of the song. He talks about racism, colorism, stereotypes, lack of resources and so much more. It’s a very heavy loaded song. It's a song with a message we all know but most don’t want to admit--especially in a city like Milwaukee where racism thrives and lives freely.

Here’s some more insight, “With his continued fight to use his words as a message, Young Deuces Releases his first official music video from his latest album, Son of  Soldier.  One of the stand out tracks from the album, Fly Me, featuring the amazing soulful songstress Serita Campbell gets the Famous Motion Film Treatment for the video.  The visuals are a powerful reflection of where we came from and where we are headed and depending on how you view it, you may just want to Fly Away from it all.”

When I listen to music, I tend to compare underground artists to mainstream artists to give some type of lead way into what you’d be remotely listening to but in this case, I can’t. Young Deuces is very unique in that way. I can say, he sounds slightly similar to J. Cole’s flow on the Friday Night Lights mixtape but that’s about it.

Check him out, listen to him yourself and let us know what you think. WATCH THE VIDEO, it’s that easy.  Y’all in quarantine anyways, y’all ain’t doing much. Stop playing in people's faces and listen to some new music!

Young Deuces - Son of a Soldier

We are on holiday but this dropped today and we want you guys to check it out.

Sorry no fancy write up from us this time but here is the submission blurb.

Young Deuces, ends the year with his 2nd solo album, Son of A Soldier: The Story of Dr. Jekyll's Legacy.  An album inspired by his father's rap book which entailed 7 songs written all within the year he was born.  The very first song in that book was the very first rap that Young Deuces had ever learned and gave him the desire to music.  Listen as each song is inspired & named by that very rap book found in his parents basement.”

Young Deuces - Hold It Down ft. Michael Christmas & Burgie Streetz

Slick mouth dudes always have the catchy songs!

This track from Young Deuces ft. Michael Christmas & Burgie Streetz “Hold it Down”, reminds us of Overdoz circa 2011. Its a nice balance between sweet talkin’, appreciation, and pimpin’ (Yes, we said pimpin’ because game recognizes game). Asking for the ladies to and applauding the ones that do “Hold It Down".

Its smooth hip-hop, with repetitive montra is clever. It kind of sticks in your head leaving a lasting impression.

So hold them down yall and leave a comment if your rocking with it.

Young Deuces - Run of Harriet

“Run of Harriet is the 4th video from Young Deuces solo project 'My Unapologetic Black Thoughts." The song is said to be what Young Deuces imagined would be playing during the run on the underground railroad, similar to when you run in the gym and you play a song to get your adrenaline up. The music video plays off of that theme and shows a young Harriet Tubman, on a mission to wake up the lost ones in today's world in the Black Community. Come watch as Harriet Tubman wakes up Stacey Dash, Ben Carson, Omarosa, Floyd Mayweather and deal with Kanye West w/Donald Trump.”

First of all, let me just say yasssssss to the creativity of this project! I love the concept behind it and it’s originality. Nowadays artists kinda talk about the same things, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s just extremely refreshing to see new quality content. The illustrations were dope and I love how in the beginning Harriet puts on some airpods (#flex lol) and has a playlist of conscious artists to choose from like Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar and Meek Mill. The “woke juice” she shoots at the lost ones to come with her was a cool addition, and I can definitely picture her having this song playing to amp her up and get her adrenaline pumping because listen... I was in fact HYPE lol.

Hopefully this video inspires others to challenge their own concepts/ideas and think outside the box. Shoutout to Young Deuces for sending this over to us...keep your creativity flowing!

Young Deuces - The Lie (video submission)

Young Deuces really made a tear-jerker that tugs at your heartstrings when he made his song “The Lie.” The video starts off with a Father taking his daughter to school, telling her how great her day will be and how after school they are going to get crab legs (I thought that was a nice added touch because I felt that, crab legs are bomb lol). While his daughter is at school, the Dad is running around Milwaukee when suddenly he gets pulled over for a traffic stop, something a lot of us fear now, since we have no idea how a simple stop could play out. Unfortunately in the video, the Father’s stop didn’t end well. After school, the daughter waits for him to pick her up, but eventually goes to look for him, only to find him in his car surrounded by yellow tape.

I appreciate videos like this that highlight the issues going on in our communities rather than always talking about the same ol’ “getting money and hoes” narrative that usually gets highlighted more. Visuals like this have a lot more power and holds more weight. I thought it was a dope creative expression. Good job, Young Deuces.

Take a look at the video and tell us what you think!
