The 365 BLACK [PROJECT] is a project created by CopyWrite Magazine to celebrate Black History month. However, noting that Black his(her)story is created everyday this project highlights what it means to be a BLACK creative, entrepreneurs or leader 365 days a year.
To start collecting representation of Black history in the making we personally reached out to several of our favorite BLACK locals, asking them to submit short videos telling us what it feels like to be a Black creative, entrepreneur or leader 365 days a year. This collection of videos will be housed in a gallery on copywritemag.com for the rest of the year, paying homage to the contributions to our culture 365 days a year.
Want to join the collection?
Submit videos to copywrite.mke@gmail.com Attn: 365 Black Project.
Videos should be 30 to 60 seconds telling us what it feels like to be a Black creative, entrepreneurs or leader 365 days a year. Your video can be you talking or you showing us by using your craft [i.e. dancing, singing, rapping, painting, djing, styling, prepping for service etc.]. You can film it with a phone, computer, tiktok, zoom, you know how ever you capture thing's these days. [MP4 files preferred]

Who has been on your music radar throughout this “pandemonium” pandemic?
With consciousness, authenticity, truth seeking, and the empowerment of the Black voice being one of our save and grace, Dear Silas has been one of those names. So just imagine how excited we were to see that one of our highly connected MKE based creatives, Young Deuces, has partnered up with Dear Silas to bring us a new track that has some elevation and novelty to perceptions that all too often go unnoticed.
Produced by super producer K. Mel Beatz, “No Mercy” is a powerful but clean track of melodic undertones, descriptive lyrics, on edge with the mental olympics it takes to get through life. [How relevant is that?]
Though this is not feel good music, it’s REAL good music and that’s what we respect. The creative play through hard topics, that sometimes take on moods that we all feel but are too consumed to discuss. As Young Deuces and Dear Silas navigate the beat for 4 minutes and 18 seconds you become moved, reflective and centered in this fight [for whatever we are still fighting for}.
Plus with some pop culture cover art referencing that Naruto anime style its at minimum worth a listen, a play back and then a playlist add.
Thank us later.

Don’t be petty. - Management
“LET ME GET UHHH COVID TEST & A LARGE COKE.” - is just one of the culturally triggered lines in the verbiage and design for #TestUpMKE [ a creative campaign], that you have seen circulating. The original art created by MKE notable artist Vedale Hill, was created and curated to capture the “urban” community of MKE which includes Black & Brown people and the systemically disenfranchised.
The designs play on the identity and cultural cues that are imbedded into our everyday lives and our nostalgia. Whether that be the 90’s Solo cup colorway, the gas station/take out food “Thank You” bag or the gold ornamented grill of a Black Male icon. It’s there. It’s for us. It’s by US [no FUBU tho.]
As COVID-19 continues to dominate our lives we want to make sure that the knowledge that can help save our community is communicated through methods we already respect & dabble in: ART, FASHION, COMMUNITY & CULTURE.
Like these #TestUpMKE campaign T-shirts? Well you can be #SociallyResponsibe and fly by Pre-ordering your favorite design on our online store.
