'All I Need Is One Mic' Music Seminar (plus: /CW music submission requirements)
/Are you serious about your music career?
We always hear the complaints: “Why can’t I get on? I got bars!”, “Why my music don’t get no play? My sh*t be shakin ' '!” or our favorite, “Y’all don’t support the local. Yall don’t be posting all my music.”
Skkkkkrrrchhhhh *record scratches*
Well where were you at noon October 19th? If you weren't at the Cactus Club for Isharai Artist Management ‘All I Need Is One Mic’ Music Seminar, then all your complaints are null and void.
For those that take their craft seriously, this seminar dropped crucial gems on how to navigate inexpensive, free, and local resources to make your career pop. Now obviously this is not magic. You actually have to be a “quality” [whatever that means] artist to have people rock with your music. But if you are, what’s stopping you from getting paid off of your craft.
How do you get your music on streaming platforms? How do you then get paid for those streams? How do you register your music? How do you get radio play? How do you get blog placements? How do you get write ups? How do you get press coverage? How do you get bookings for events? When do you need a manager? Should you be paying for any of this?
Breaking down the music industry into five major components (The Blueprint - Music Administration, The Bridge - Branding, The Source - Venues/ Radio/ Media, The Vibe - Artist Management, and The Paper - Monetization) Isharai Artist Management invited local experts in each department. Panelist included Aichelle White (of Isharai), Kennita Hickman of Catera Omnivision Group, Tina Kern from TK Management (who is associated with Wavie Gang), Allen Halas of Breaking & Entering Milwaukee, and of course Lexi S. Brunson (Editor-in-Chief of CopyWrite). There were also artists testimonials from locals who have had some reasonable momentum navigating music in and out of Milwaukee, Young Deuces and Tone DaMan.
Those who did attend received not only pertinent knowledge but a chance to ask the question from the experts, networking opportunity, collaborative propositions, free TDM Fest t-shirts (compliments of Tone DaMan) and more.
Because we don’t want to leave any one empty handed we offer up at least our portion of the conversation. THE PROPER WAY TO SEND A MUSIC SUBMISSION !!!
[please feel free to share this information with the world]
So why do we care? When artists invest in there career at the local level, it levels up our creative community in general. It expands our possibilities as a city and puts us all on the map. This is not a one man show, this is a collaborative effort. You know how it goes “Everybody eats B”.
Shout out to Isharai Artist Management for hosting such a great event, we hope that next time you have the opportunity to invest into your passion more of you show up.
As always #SupportTheLocal
