Our theme for this fall’s Co-op Fest, “Our. Cooperative. Communities.” was born from a conversation about celebrating and honoring the important milestones in our co-op community including the five and fifteen year anniversaries of the Riverwest Public House and Riverwest Food Co-op respectively. Beyond a moment of celebratory appreciation, there is also an important acknowledgement of the current challenges we face – in communicating and working together, of participation, of unbalanced information, access to education and power. We still have work to do. Further still, this theme reflects an emphasis towards our potential to reclaim our cooperative communities and sustain a responsible social legacy for future generations.
We come together as individuals, families and community members to understand where we have been, what we are doing and where we can go. Co-op Fest will be a series of opportunities to overlap with one another, share knowledge, experience a sense of connection and intention regarding not just co-ops but cooperation in our human quest for justice.
The festival program track descriptions can be found on www.rca.coop/fest. Please continue to check back for exact program details. We hope to provide childcare during the festival. Please contact people@rca.coop with any questions.
