When Hood Smoke band leader, Bryan Doherty approached me a few years ago and asked who I thought would be a good Milwaukee act to pair with his band, the answer was instantly clear. Unfortunately, Frank Yankovic was unavailable, so we settled for De La Buena. Thus was born a match made in heaven. Ergo, I'm delighted to be a part of this event.

De La Buena, MKE's first in importance when it comes to Latin jazz seasoned with Afro-Cuban rhythm, will be sharing Riverwest's favorite stage with Chicago's pop-funk titans, Hood Smoke, while your's truly injects live DJ sets before, between and after the bands, to insure that there is no room for idling.

What to expect: Penetrating brass, sneaky organ grooves, howling vocals, tropical beats, voodoo percussion, teeth shattering bass, home brewed beer, unity inducing harmonies, orgasmic food (if you get there early), crackly Jamaican and other warm weathered vinyl, uncut funk and just about everything else you need to make it hard for even I, the king of all wall flowers, to keep from wiggling a toe or two.
