Milwaukee rapper Ish DARR scored millions of SoundCloud and Spotify streams. Identical twins and Pulaski natives Andi & Alex were favorites on the latest season of "The Voice." And Neenah-born punk trio Tenement's latest album "Predatory Headlights" was one of the 10 best of 2015 according to New York Times music critic Ben Ratliff.
All three acts, selected for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Wisconsin Bands to Watch for 2016, will play a concert at the 88Nine RadioMilwaukeestudios (220 E. Pittsburgh St.) on Feb. 26 — and it's FREE.
The concert is presented by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, which has posted its annual Wisconsin Bands to Watch list atjsonline.com/bandstowatch, complete with band profiles, documentaries, exclusive performance videos and photos.
The 8 p.m. concert will be co-hosted by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel music writer Piet Levy and Jordan Lee, program director for WYMS-FM (88.9). Levy selected the acts for the fourth installment of the Bands to Watch list and wrote the feature. Levy and Lee co-host "TAP'd In," a weekly segment on Radio Milwaukee, where they share concert picks, discuss local music news and more.
While the concert is free, capacity is limited and available on a first come, first served basis. You can RSVP to the event through Facebook; a link is available at jsonline.com/bandstowatch.
