Quron Payne - NO (Official Video) [prod. By DJ Royalty]

When life gets you down, there's usually only two options: get back up or stay down. It's a path that many of us will face and that some are consistently going thru. It never really gets easier but you learn from those lessons and continue to build.

In Quron Payne's, "NO," he speaks on his experiences of being a victim of fraud (which CopyWrite has seen proof of), his family life, mental capacity and just the life of being an artist. Consistently marked with higher expectations, lust, want and just the hustle and drive that says 'No, I'm not giving up now.'

While the over 3-minute song might not have a hook, Quron flows over a DJ Royalty produced beat telling his story bolding and strongly; switching up the flow when he wants. The official video directed by videographer Brenend, showcases an interesting contrast of light and dark just like the song.

TEZJay - Ugly Duckling feat. YL64 & Will theGlide prod. Lytton Scott

We all know the story; a young duckling who doesn't appear to fit in with or look like the rest of the group becomes the baddest of them all.

It's a great metaphor for the music industry and sticking to the lane you think is right, not what others seem to want.

And while transformation for the better is often the goal of all artists, these rappers brought the bad and the 'ugly' to "Ugly Duckling" killing the track. Over an harmonic beat that flips, the artists TEZJay of Blaq Anjilz, YL64 and Will theGlide come together to perfectly blend there unique sounds on a Lytton Scott produced beat and a Mammyth mixed and mastered track. (We can hear the difference. LOL)

Dee Phr3sh - FireStyle [Prod. Golden Child]

Sometimes to get to the next level in your craft, you as artist need to change your approach, maybe even redirecting your focus and cutting out things that will effect the way you want to move forward.

Dee Phr3sh, 23-year old Milwaukee native, has done just that. Going into the dark to come back to the light with FIRE.

"FireStyle" produced by Golden Child, is another extension of the heat that will be coming on "Trap Card [EP]" from the artist real soon. Fast-paced bars over sharp 808 kicks, Dee takes the track to show off different stylistic approaches in his "arsenal."

And we couldn't help but notice Dee's cover art, inspired by manga; contrasting city landscapes and traditional Japanese characters. DOPE!

Xavier Ruffin- Recognition of False Prophets

J.Cole has hit us with another one! This time it ricocheted through the media into the hands of multi-talented creative, Xavier Ruffin.

Here he takes the "False Prophets" beat, paring it with his personal bars, and creating a video montage inspired by his family and friends. He edits his-story to portray the times he has shared and the things he has missed on his quest for greatness, including (his younger brothers graduation) the things he can not get back. His "Recognition", is to the reality of it all, and the sacrifice that is life.

His growth, his understanding, and his exploration of self, resonates with so many, we post this not only because it is a great spin on a very "controversial" track, with a creative visual, but to reassure X, he is not in this alone.  We have all seen, false prophets.

Grandparent's Closet: Knit Sweater

Introducing CopyWrite’s fashion series, Grandparent’s Closet.

We all have those one-of-a-kind or very unique items that we love to wear. The big question is “where did you get it from?” and with no shame; our fashion editor Vato will say his Grandparents Closet. “If your grandparents we’re as cool as mines when they were younger, then I’m sure you’re familiar with what’s in their closet.”

In this segment, Vato takes one-of-a-kind “vintage” clothing from his relatives closet and gives it a modern twist.

Vato shows off a sweater which looks knitted in the colors black, grey, and white. As you can see in the photos below; he wears the sweater as plain and simple as possible, making it easy for people to focus on the sweater. It was given to him by his great uncle who owns a collection of sweaters.

Lex Allen - Mamas Boy

Mamas Boy.

It's not a necessarily a "good" term and it has different connotations depending on who is saying it but all in all it means the same thing; you are your mother's son.

In Lex Allen's "Mamas Boy" he sings out some of his sorrow in a heartfelt track over a heavily piano driven beat but if you listen closely you'll hear his gasps of air (shout-out to the producer). The song feels like a lullaby that is Lex's reality. Released almost a year after the passing of his mom, Lex's tribute would have made her proud. He maybe a "Mamas Boy" but that's not stopping him any. And while her spirit is still with him today, Allen is singing towards the heavens and healing through his passion and we love it.

So call your mamas, grandmamas and babymamas; remind them that they are loved and you will always be there for them, as they will you.

Listen to the track below and rest peacefully to our #WCW Lex's Mama. We wish we could have met the person that made Lex. We love your Baby Boy too. ❤️

Music.LexAllenProductions.com Lex Allens 'Mamas Boy' turns the earth shattering pain from losing his mother almost a year ago, into a heartfelt memorial with his emotional tenor voice, vivid lyrics and uplifting piano driven beat. It's the perfect soundtrack to healing and finding the silver lining after a tragedy.

MKE Street Style Interview with Rosha Brister

Read Vato's interview with stylish boss lady, Rosha Brister.

Prior to the interview; Rosha and I met at a festival, where we were able to share our passions about fashion. Rosha Brister is the owner and founder of The Style Hub, an online style directory where you will be able to locate local stylists from a variety of search options. Basically Rosha is dope and can connect with the people that you need for all things fashion and style related. In addition, this led up to Rosha asking me to host an event called, 'The Battle of Salons' Fashion Show.

We met at a coffee shop for the interview to talk her "street style."

What is your style?

Rosha likes to consider her style like the modern day 70s era. She is very fascinated with high wasted denim, crops tops, deep cut v-neck shirts, turtle necks, hats, and fur scarfs. Keeping it in a time she feels most appreciated in.

Who or what influences your style?

Rosha feels as if inspiration comes from other clothing pieces. Wondering how she could duplicate something and add her own twist to it. She says social media is one of her hugest outlets when it comes to looking at pieces to influence her style.

How does your closet look?

Rosha considers herself to be very organized and a bit of a neat freak. She has all her denim in one spot, but everything else is color coordinated, hanging up and or folded. One thing I found interesting is how she switches her closet as the seasons change.

Favorite places to shop?

Urban outfitters, American Apparel, and H&M

Follow Rosha's Style Hub on Instagram and Facebook @_thestylehub to get more updates on local fashion and style events or for your next fashion show.
