AR Wesley - The Self Portrait PT 2

AR Wesley is an artist that continues to elevate and adapt his sound all while bringing home his life stories over a dope beat.

To reflect back on Part One a little, AR pulled out components and perspectives to display who he is and what he symbolizes. In Part Two, he continued this journey. Giving us, what he says, "an in-depth look at [his] personal views pertaining to love, life, and circumstances."

Those circumstances led to several references, music samples and some dope featured artists. (Can you can peep the Craig Mack & Pharcyde reference?)

Featured singers, Kyndal J., B~Free, Lex Allen and Cree Myles gave each song a new spin as we heard a new story be unraveled. And when you have amazing producers such as Mike Regal, B~Free (shout-out to the lady producers) and Ekstoluke in your corner; your project is indefinitely FIRE.

But don't take our word for it. Listen to Pt. 2 and a little birdie might have told us Pt. 3 is in the works so let AR know how you feel in the comments.

And if you haven't seen the video for "Here iGo" featuring Von Alexander, peep it below.

VON ALEXANDER - Championships feat. Mike Regal (prod. DMND)

**WARNING... TOO MUCH FIRE ON THE TRACK.**

When mentioning Milwaukee's ever-growing hip-hop scene, you will most likely hear Von Alexander & Mike Regal mentioned. They've proven themselves time and time again with creating, featuring, performing (and producing) the hottest and most wide-ranging tracks coming out the FOUR to date.

But what happens when you put these two heavy-weights on a DMND produced track?

Well we would say they literally murdered the track with no hopes for survival. Listen below and tell Vonny we'll be keeping our eyes open for MAYHEM 1993 hopefully coming sooner than we think.

Cool Tay - The Beginning of Forever (Short Film)

In a world where there are music videos after music videos after (really good) music videos. How can an artist separate there sound and visuals apart from the crowd? Well Cool Tay's "The Beginning of Forever (Short film)" did just that.

The "short film" caught CopyWrite's attention revealing a short film (music video if we're being honest) that showcased Tay's single "The Beginning of Forever" from his up-and-coming project, "The Experience" set to drop later this year. The captivating story produced by JSwaqq Productions, showed a lost Cool Tay on the search for his twisted love (played by featured singer, Jeronica Brister.)

Watch the film below and shout out to Mammyth and Mike Regal with the production (We hear you guys.)

We saw it coming, Mike Regal "Premonitiions"

The “Premonitiions” of dope music, with deep awakenings all summer ‘16, has been embedded into our psyches for some time now. The prophetic, and intuitional contribution by Mike Regal, dropped earlier this week, is no exception.

We remember some months back, when CopyWrite interviewed Regal at his studio, how excited he was too be working on his own platform of self expression, behind the beat and on the mic. He joked around about how his “That so Raven”, thematic structure would call into question the realities, the possibilities and the execution of the city, culture, revelations and Regal’s own placement within the mix.

“Premonitiions” is a cleverly wound compilation of songs that peck at the pecking order. As head bobbing, and DAB provoking his beats may be, the swift movements between layered vocals and tempos are a bit hypnotic. Pulling at that 3rd eye(on the low) #WeSeeYou. Of course his production is clean, his samples are decorous in provocative pallets and the risk are very visible.

But what’s the point of going in if you're afraid to take a few shots.

Loves at first listen: “Business Man” (Prod. By Deb.On.Air) It's so vibey. The word delivery is so 90’s crisp and the corny phone call component shows some “cocky-humanity”. YUP! I made up a term.

Check out those features. The track list, hmmm see there is a method behind the madness, even with other producers. The collabo is heavy.

Is there something in the air?

Is it just me or is the laboratory theme showing its face more and more amongst MKE producers who are also lyricist? I'm just saying...this week...ok ok ok, I’ma let it go.

But the track, “Regal’s Laboratory” (Prod. By Lex Luther & Mike Regal), is the admission that Mike has finally found the perfect elixir and he does not plan on sharing it. So you might be getting a Regal beat, but he is not giving up the juice. Selfish? Nahhh survival.

Just peep game, or as Regal says it “Keep your eyes open.”

We are happy to see the “Premonitions” come to life and see great things forming in the near future.

Take a listen, leave a comment and let us know what you think Regal’s next move might be.

Reggie Bonds - thingsliveinthedark Prod: Mike Regal

As the city waits for Reggie Bonds upcoming project, "From the NORF$IDE W/ Love", he brings us the track, "thingsliveinthedark." As Reggie put it "This song was something I feel is a statement; something that has been inside me for a longtime. Just thoughts that I like had to get out my head sooner or later." Bonds' confident lyrics over Mike Regal's production brings together a track that shows off his demeanor about his city; as he tells the world that he is just getting started with his music.

A collaboration done extremely well.

Cool Tay's newest song, "Can The Cool Be Loved" is a beautifully produced and blended track that showcases not only the skills of Cool Tay, but the lyrics and vibes of AR Wesley and the sultry voice of Kyndal J. Can The Cool Be Loved

King Bravo - Forgiveness (Prod. Mike Regal)

Telling a story of survival, King Bravo speaks on the inner city and a journey in his newest track, "Forgiveness".

With hopes of moving passed the men with no fear of dying and maybe no hope of living, Bravo's song gives us a sense of space and an odd sense of hope that we can all elevate ourselves to the challenge of making our surrounding environments the best we can. With some crazy production from local favorite Mike Regal, Bravo is coming for his spot on Milwaukee's hip hop scene.

Listen to the track below.

Mike Regal - Business Man (Prod By Deb.On.Air)

As Jay Z said, "I'm not a businessman, I'm a business, man. Let me handle my business, damn!"

We could say the same thing about Mike Regal. He is definitely handling his business. His skills and craft are forever adapting and with that he has even brought a higher standard for Milwaukee's hip hop scene from verses to production. (Why do you think we interviewed him for Issue Four?)

Regal is back at it again with his track, "Business Man" produced by his homie Deb.On.Air. His quick rhyme flow tells the world to re-evaluate their grind and watch out for his hustle.

As the first track off his heavily anticipated album, "Premonitions", we ask you to keep your Eyes Open and listen to the track below.
