Cool Tay - The Beginning of Forever (Short Film)

In a world where there are music videos after music videos after (really good) music videos. How can an artist separate there sound and visuals apart from the crowd? Well Cool Tay's "The Beginning of Forever (Short film)" did just that.

The "short film" caught CopyWrite's attention revealing a short film (music video if we're being honest) that showcased Tay's single "The Beginning of Forever" from his up-and-coming project, "The Experience" set to drop later this year. The captivating story produced by JSwaqq Productions, showed a lost Cool Tay on the search for his twisted love (played by featured singer, Jeronica Brister.)

Watch the film below and shout out to Mammyth and Mike Regal with the production (We hear you guys.)

This twisted love tale is very intricate yet suspenseful, as cool tay struts across the long deep green wonderland in search of something, something that he may have lost, But yet found.

Savage Sevyn - Lookin' for Love

Looking for love? Well we might have a track just for you.

As the first single off of their upcoming album titled HUE-MEN, Savage Sevyn, a Milwaukee based women duo, brings us "Lookin' for Love." A soulful track with a lot of energy, a Curtis Mayfield reference and deep influences of psychedelic soundscapes, hip-hop-inflected beats and what we love to call TRap & B (Peep the Erykah Badu reference), the track has shown us some love.

Listen to the lady duo below and let us know what you think.

Emmitt James "SUNFLOWERS" *COPYWRITE OFFICIAL DROP*

Lover Boy, Emmitt James, is at it again. CopyWrite premiers to you “SUNFLOWERS”, the single from his upcoming project #THEFEELGOODTAPE, slated to release for Fall 2016. Happy 1st Birthday London, this one is for you!

Featuring Bethel Solomon & Youngest Pope Eva, Emmitt James has created a sultry uptempo sound that reflects the simplicity of good vibes, unconditional love, and the beauty of nature. “I’m convinced I found an Angel, I’m convinced God loves me so”. Street Style Interview with Meraki

Read out fashion editors interview with stylish and sultry artist, Meraki.

What is your style?

"I'd say my style varies. For the most part it kind of displays the person I am. Very carefree and simplistic. I enjoy wearing colors that compliment my skin tone. Since I am a brown skin girl my favorite colors are all tones of nude colors, grey, olive, and dark Browns. I like for my nails to be nude colors as well. I enjoy dark lipsticks (preferably burgundy), high waist denim, vinyl material type clothing, distressed stitching, cropped tops, etc.I think style is just a way to make yourself feel good inside and out, admire yourself, and to express emotion and creativity. It's apart of who you are."

Who or what influences your wardrobe?

"I'd say women like Vashtie influences my tom boy style. Sometimes I like to wear baggy apparel, boxer briefs, cropped tops and more. She also influences my interest in street wear. Karrueche and Rihanna influence my more girly side. They've put me onto a lot of sites for clothes. Their style is very dope and I've found myself merely mimicking them from time to time in HS."

How does your closet look?

"My closet is full of stuff I'm ready to get rid of lol. I go through phases sometimes and get an urge to switch everything up. I have lots of street wear things, selection of heels and tennis shoes, and random stuff lol."

Favorite places to shop?

"My favorite places to shop are of course American Apparel, Matte Brand and NastyGal."

What is your favorite clothing item, why?

"I'd say my favorite clothing item would have to be my supreme hockey jersey or my grey suede jump site. My hockey jersey bc it displays my Tom boy side and it's just dope as hell. Very rare. My suede jumpsuit because jumpsuits compliment the figure of a woman and suede is one of my favorite fabrics."

SnapShot PressBite - Library Loud Days

Get loud! This is a no shushing zone!

“Everybody make some noise!” – That’s one statement nobody ever expects to hear from aficionados at the library. But indeed there was nothing but noise permeating the walls and flowing out onto the streets around Milwaukee Public Library (MPL) Central location, for the first installment of their ‘Library Loud Days’ Series, last Thursday.

The Big event caught CopyWrite’s attention with the headlining act being MKE, popular music collective, New Age Narcissism (NAN). How would such a creatively rambunctious bunch pull this one off and how would one of the quietest places on the planet handle so much sound? Well we just had to find out! We even brought in a young “CopyWrite Connect,” three-year-old Yaya, for her inside perspective.

Walking down Wisconsin Ave. to the front of the Central Library, you would think there was a street festival going on. The smell of food trucks tickled our noses while speakers were banging all those new pop culture tracks. So many faces congregating on the grand steps of the library, like somebody's front porch.

The aura inside was just as active as the one that greeted us on the street. You could find photo booths with music props, get free merchandise repping the band and the library, engage with stations for kids to try out different instruments (Yaya's favorite, the drums), view old school cover art, watch Ted Talks, hear spoken word, play Guitar Hero and visit the super cool green roof…..OMG, to explore, explore, explore! Places in the library you might not even think to go, places you never had a reason to venture to, this was the time. They were all open for the community to experience together. The vibe was everything but normal, which made the contradiction so appropriate.

NAN performed an amazing set, showcasing all of their talents and pulling at some of their more risky arsenal. Siren, you have no shame! Lex was spicy with just the right amount of sweet, as always! Lorde Fred33, we peep the influence, bold with the subliminal (but are they really subliminal?) Webster, just as crowd thrilling as expected. Bo’, funky baby! Chris, feeding us with that much needed “dapper” percussion. Angie Swan, making the guitar cry absolute tears. And don’t forget Q The Sun making it all flow, so naturally, with the dope Pokémon threads (if we may add). With a collective that seemed to unify the space with both the physical platform and social one; the library became the open book for what we hope is change.

Library Loud Days, allowed for people of all ages and all backgrounds to see what CopyWrite gets to experience on an everyday basis, people coming together in a communal way to express talent, culture and learn freely. It was a great community based event that allowed us to enjoy the library and network with two different sides of the spectrum, which may open doors for more oddly amazing opportunities and collaboration in the future.

So what did our young CopyWrite Connect Yaya have to say? Well, for her first concert I think we have a win! Our sources tell us that the next day, that's all she talked about. She said, it was fun playing music and eating popcorn in the library. She will definitely be coming back. (What a great critic! We agree with Yaya, it was fun.)

Reese - Good Sh*t ft. Cleo Fox (prod. More // Night)

Sometimes you have to listen to a song and let yourself feel the vibes.

In the song, "Good Sh*t" from artist Reese (formerly known as Ree$e), the uptempo dance track is both soulful and electric combining Reese's smooth melodies, Cleo Fox's quick-witted (and super steazy) rhymes over a More//Night production. The results.... an EDM track that even a hip-hop head will listen to.

Peep the track below and let us know what you think of Reese's new sound. We dig it.

Thane - Gravity [EP]

So we're starting to see a trend with some Milwaukee producers creating some amazing projects. This was no different for up and coming electronic producer Thane who has blown us away with his "Gravity" EP.

In the project, you can hear a heavy influence of alternative electronic, R&B as well as jazz, funk, and hip-hop. The three-track project takes us on a journey of love and loss while showcasing Thane's producing skills.

Listen to the project below and wait on "Topia" to be released mid-August.
