In honor of her birthday today, my #WCW goes to Rosha Brister.

Rosha Brister is the owner and founder of The Style Hub, an online style directory where you will be able to locate all of your local stylists in one place. Basically Rosha is dope and can connect you with the people that you need for all things fashion and style related. In addition, Rosha has been a continuous supporter and Head stylist of CopyWrite over the years helping to bring our fashion spreads to life all while just being an amazing woman to see grow.

This boss lady is creative, kind, has amazing locs and the most beautiful soul. I’ve been  very lucky to know her and super excited to see her impact on the Fashion community of Milwaukee. One of the things I’m really excited for is an event called, 'The Battle of Salons & Style Expo.” It’s an opportunity for stylists in hair, beauty and fashion to brand, expand, and showcase their expertise in the beauty, fashion & style industries all under one roof.

I’m also excited about her newest initiative "MPowerment In Style" where The Style Hub along with RW Enterprises and Copywrite has teamed together to create something new for the community.  The goals of this initiative are to provide young adults with expertise in event management, business to business relations and knowledge within the style industry, while building confidence and cultivating a sense of community. The kick off to this initiative will start as early as 2019. And not only is this an opportunity I wish I had growing up but it also is something that could help move Milwaukee to become a more fashionable city. YESSSSS for The Style Hub.

Taiyamo Denku - Fabulous Life ( Feat Lil Kim & The Genius )

Taiyamo Denku is back with his final single release ‘Fabulous Life’ before his project "No Industry Standard" drops later this month. With consistent thematics of hip-hop’s early origins and authenticity, he challenges new era practices with a critical lens.

“Yall ruined this hip-hop” he claims at only 1:00 minute in, and right before that we are pretty sure he took a shot at Lil Baby (which is pretty much fair game lol).

Mind you this track also features Lil Kim (Well ain't that something?) On her classic boastful, nasty girl getting money steez. The Genius out Boston is also featured, so yeah...there is a lot going on in hip hop, might as well add this to the ring!

I mean is this a low-key hybrid diss track about the new waves or hip-hop or are reading in to deep???

Still, this is indeed the Fabulous Life!

King Myles most recent release ‘Shipwrecked’ produced by ASI$, is a layered track of mix emotions of reality; the lows in life that eventually get you to the highs. It is lyrical, but not coded. It is sampled but not identifiable (that’s a good thing). It is well...compared to the submissions we have been receiving lately, different.

What do you think about the hook drop? Is it too detached from the tempo or is it like a nice unexpected shift???

Dirty Thoughts - May I, May I (I May)

May is my month! Not only was I born in this magnificent time of year (where my Taurus instinct become fully loaded) but it is also always a month filled with the ambiance of completion. The last projects of the semester are in, people are graduating, winter has fully sprung (right into summer this year lol) and it's sundress season. (Is that last one relevant? Maybe not but it was necessary because it completes me! Haaaaaa!). The city just seems to become so lively, and after all the seasonal depression fade away,  I jump into my car with the sunroof down and the music loud, and  I remember how much I love it here.

Idk if its the street festivals (Check out this pic snagged by Jordan [@lime.slippers] of me, /CW PR Tiffany & some of our biggest supporters at the 7th Annual Heal The Hood MKE Block Party)...

Or maybe its the ability to sit outside at a coffee shop or go for a walk, or be anywhere but nowhere in the elements but everything, even the lows just feel so much better. On a personal level, I have lost a loved one, been threatened, physically attacked, and have had to deal with some very dramatic interactions this month alone… Yet, still, I’m just in a great mood (& unphased!)

What a win!
I’m just saying if Drake can drop the ‘Duppy Freestyle’, Pusha T cannot respond for days,  I can still cry when ‘Nice for What’ comes on (Yes! That song makes me cry. It's just so symbolic yall just don't knowwwwwwwww *tear*), and Kanye can still be overweight after lipo, called a rapper after ‘Lift Yourself’ and we can all still save money by switching to Geico, then life is good!

As I have been saying all May, “Life is a Comedy. Don't let this society convince you it's a Drama”.

Every little bit of positivity goes a long way and a smile can break a Bi**h.

88NiNE Presents - Invisible Lines: Episode One

Our partners at 88Nine have recently released a project that "is the culmination of a year of work from production team Nate Imig, Laura Kezman and Vianca Fuster", which they are calling Invisible Lines.

In this series, they hosted several listening sessions with people of color in the Milwaukee community letting them tell their stories.

Episode One: Coded of Invisible Lines, is actually in part a story from a major CopyWrite supporter, who actually appeared as the featured cover artist for CopyWrite Magazine Issue Seven: Vedale Hill and his brother Darren Hill. 

As the city helps document "new" narratives, I think it is important we all listen and see through the invisible lines. S/O to the 88Nine Squad. We think this is a super dope project.

Kaleo Musiq - Forced to Speak (EP)

Eager are we? It may be an understatement.

Kaleo Musiq has been popping up all over the city, with showcases, music connects and unyielding management lol. He came on our radar after our Editor-in-Chief, Dirty, randomly popped up at 2035 Studios where he just so happened to be in the booth.

His EP ‘Forced To Speak’, places pressure on the “why?” factor that lingers above most musical artist and tells us about his motivations, as it “walks listeners through several hardships faced in life, the value of Self-confidence and the importance of vocalizing our truths.” (says Kaleo Musiq’s camp).

So what do we think…?

There is a place for this. There is a place for truth balance with hood notes and soul bending. There is a place for self-elevation and shared headspace that says I’m “Doing Better”. There is something there. Arguably, it's not all fleshed out but usually, it isn't until you realize that telling your story is the therapy and what the audience wants to know is are they Free To Listen? Kaleo Musiq’s ‘Forced To Listen’ is paced, strategic, but the voids….hmmm maybe its a test.
