Luke Maillefer - Milwaukee Fireworks Go Big

We know that summer is damn near over and we will miss it. So to commemorate all the fun, the festivals, and the moments we wish we could forget ( Hahaha) we have a video that is sure to "spark" some memories.

Check out Luke Maillefer's video of the dramatics we call fireworks from the Urban backyard we call MKE, 'Milwaukee Fireworks Go Big'. From the basic boom to the, "Now you know that shiz is illegal" it was an eventful fireworks summer.

Happy Labor Day & see ya next summer!

Syn Thoughts... CW News

I’ve always been told that I have this super power.

The power to make everyone around me instantly feel comfortable to be their true and authentic selves; whatever that is. To face fears with an open heart. To be as goofy or as bold as you want to be. To be as creative as you need to be and to believe, even at a moment, that in the end everything will be better.

I don’t know if I believe my super power really exists. But I do believe that you’ll never know exactly who you inspire.

CopyWrite has always been one of my biggest inspirations.

It was started with love in an apartment on 22nd and Wells (Shout out CAMPLife & Basement Underlying) where creativity and hard work was as fluid as rhymes, vinyls and trips to the 7 Eleven. It introduced me to the most influential, loyal and most hardworking people I know, and it gave me the opportunity to take the things I’m passionate about and work to see it come to fruition.

It also gave me and my graphic design a needed boost in aesthetics.

Like have you ever seen Issue One? https://issuu.com/copywritemagazine/docs/issue_one

Do you even know what the old CopyWrite logo looks like?

Hahaha… Growth is a beautiful thing.

I say all of this to announce this….

I’ll be stepping down as the Creative Director of CopyWrite Mag.

As a leader, sometimes you have to learn when it’s time to let go and now it’s my time.

As I reminisce on all the stories I could tell about CopyWrite, I feel so humbled and proud that it is what it is today. That our vision and our mission has been noticed by the people in the city and we have accomplished our goal to “tell the stories that need to be told and always showcase the unrealized artistic potential throughout our community while doing the things we love.”

This will not change my support for CopyWrite as they move forward as a company and I hope that if you love me, you will continue to support my legacy as a founder by continuing to support the local and respect the Urban.

To my Co-Founder: Thank you for trusting me with the longest homework assignment in the history of homework assignments. Hahaha. I know you’ll continue to keep the mission alive.

To my Team: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. For believing in Lexi and I. For sharing your creative minds with me. For being my friends, my family and the best contributors and collaborators a girl could ask for.

To Milwaukee: Thank you for being the inspiration that we needed.

And finally to anyone who ever bought/read a magazine, submitted a song, wrote an article, modeled for our fashion spread, helped us or came to an event, was a #WCW, shared an event, or even an idea: I love you. I appreciate you. And I can’t wait to celebrate CopyWrite’s 50th anniversary with you (because I’m still in there.)

Love & all things Urban,

Syn

Hello Milwaukee!

Here we are again already for Fashion Friday! These weeks are flying by which means summer will be leaving us soon. :(

Even with last night being a bit chilly, that didn’t stop Elijah from bringing the heat! Until recently I had only seen him on social media so when we ended up at the same spot, I had to grab him for a photo! From head to toe his look hit the mark for me....did you peep his footwork?

To keep up with Elijah and the moves he’s making in fashion, you can follow his Instagram @profashional.eli and also check out some dope merch he’s recently debuted!
As always stay fly and #supportthelocal !

(REAL) Thoughts on Hip-Hop Week MKE

(REAL) Thoughts on Hip-Hop Week MKE

As an active media outlet of the Milwaukee Hip-Hop and Creative scene, CopyWrite has been checking in on the progress of the event planning, contributors, and real local Hip-Hop community engagement since day one. With that being said, of course, we showed up to many of the scheduled events, sending out in-house staff, CW connects, “Shooters” and the other eyes that would prefer to stay anonymous (Check all your sources).

Jay BA$$ - No Sleep

“All I ever wanted…” was for our city to bask in its greatness, with reality as its foundation and creativity as its manifestation.

(Is that asking for too much?)

Jay BA$$ is setting up these same longings with his reflective track ‘No Sleep’. Self-produced, his jazz tempo with short quick passed lyrics is an inviting realistic image of 414 living and clear drifts of consciousness between wrong & right now.

“All I ever wanted was to take care of the fam gota grind till the morning” is what he really says & as we get ready for the fall where the hustle locks in around these ways, we say add ‘No Sleep’ to your playlist. Just like we will be adding it to our CopyWrite Approved list on SoundCloud.

Fashion Friday - Milwaukee’s Finest

This week’s Fashion Friday post goes to someone that not only had a dope look but also he has achieved something pretty dope!

Eugene rocked this Frank Ocean inspired look with black distressed denim, a striped long sleeve tee, and black bandana to tie it all together. Today, Eugene’s original photography will be unveiled along with several other artists from Milwaukee to be displayed at the new Fiserv Forum downtown! NBA players, entertainers of all sorts and thousands of fans from around the world will get to see what talent Milwaukee has to offer for years to come and that’s pretty dope!

To check out some of Eugene’s work, head over to his Instagram and follow him @cartervzls !

Until next time, stay dope.

King Cezar - 'Its Better This Way' (Album Submission)

We have been waiting for you!

Where the hipster, conscious rappers, and overly thuggish have been poppin up at the social tempo of what Milwaukee music sounds like, there are other niche that we don't get enough submissions of and though they are not all our “stilo”, they are much needed give the full picture of what OUR music consist of.

With his debut album “It's Better This Way”, released on Kingz Circle Music Group, King Cezar is delivering trap vibes with wavy MKE undertones that are a fair reflection of new era hip-hop without the unnecessary obnoxious jack’n beats that have boxed in our greatness by  f*ck boys that can’t rap & are even worst at trapping (Yes, we said it but you were thinking it). *shrugs*

Out of the 9 track projects are favorite songs have to be ‘Broke Life’ (Prod. By Canis Major) & ‘Sometimes’ (Prod. By Big Joe) for the references and strategically choppy flows (in this case that's a good thing).

Our one criticism would be that their are not enough beat structure variety. Give us some dramatics, it will keep us focused!

This is a solid music submission and we can't wait to see how the city responds. Let us know if your vibing with it by hitting the heart below.

King Cezar finally releases his much anticipated summer project. A collection of original tracks produced by DJ Pain 1, Taz Taylor, Big Joe, Cash-X, Canis Major, And XYZ. Check out King Cezar's latest claim to the throne "Its Better This Way" All Songs Mixed And Mastered By: @KingzOnly55

First Class Records (Scottie P & Skyy Phreshh ) - LANG (Video Submission)

It just got icy, swaggy & super fly in this biz-nitch! Scottie P & Skyy Phreshh are back at it!

First Class Records has released new visuals for their track ‘LÁNG’, the first single from their upcoming Project ‘Going Digital’. The energy, the composition, and stack of cash (stuntin’ are we?) are all pointing to a more bossed up, more “refined”, First Class Records, and we like it!

Add a little jig to your day and watch this video.

Let us know if you are rocking with it in the comments below.
