Chico Manolo - Touch Me Tease Me

*PARENTAL ADVISORY EXPLICIT CONTENT*

Sometimes an artist gets a little raunchy.  wild and OC with the tongue (only a slight pun intended lol). This new track “Touch Me Tease Me”, from Chico Manolo is explicitly descriptive and possibly a little too hot to handle.

But if you're going to say it, well, you better give it your all! We live in a day and age where covert sexual innuendos have been sideswiped by the bold remarks of “this is exactly what I got for that a** “. Sometimes it's uncomfortable, and other times we have to admit, that no matter how brazen the lyrics, it was exactly what we were thinking. (I mean that is what happens when you use a 90's R&B sample)

Chico took a risk with this one. Might make a few people sweat, make some other drop their draws, make a few mad but the controversy of “Ooo You nasty!” is definitely worth a listen.

Check out this track. We really want some feedback this time around. Do you think he took it to far or steamed it up just right??? Leave a comment!

Dirty Thoughts: Reflections of Reflections

lex life 2017.jpg

2017...You Bi*ch You!

We were supposed to be friends and you faked me out like a sucker!

Even with all that... I still loved you anyway.

Why? Because that's life!

It was prophesied that I would have an eventful year. That I would experience unexplainable wonders and have the time of my life. I was geeeeeeked. Oh, yes! By all means the prophecy held true, I just didn't factor in that some of those “wonders” would drop kick me through a wormhole then spit me out. I didn't consider the negative. I forgot to be mindful of the balance.

Let’s get personal:

This year I said goodbye to some deadweight. I applied to grad school and got in. My best friend and little sister moved away. My brother died. I found out that the man of my dreams was in love with me (we SZA’d Weekend that mess and started WWIII).  Dirty (for all intensive purposes) turned into “Dirtaña”. I put some people in some bad positions, and couldn’t fix it (karma me). I hit the east coast, the west coast, down south and parts in between. I went to Lambeau field (Thank you lawd my football dreams have been made!). I found out that being blonde makes you a target and that enemies & fans are one in the same (watch your back).

With all that my vision got a bit blurry, the good got messy and the messy got good, and ya girl forgot to “BREATHE!” (Like my favorite Fabolous song). Now that my year is coming to an end, I’m on an up, but that up comes with a thorough understanding that there is a balance that comes with “eventful”. It's not all “unicorns and glitter!” (In my Progressive Flo voice), in order to get what you need, you have to confront your fears and suck up all that pride and say, “Self...you gotta do better!”

So here is my formal apology to anybody who thought they were going to ride this low with me or anybody who thought my word was not going to be bond this time around. Unfortunately, for yall I'm not going to keep taking these killer L’s and letting yall suck the soul out of me.

LET ME BE GREAT!

Phif Featuring Mo’City-There

"Check out the Video for Phif’s only 2nd single. Plays out the story of him and his then wife who didn’t support him and his dreams. At the end, he pours out his feelings in the studio where he calls home. Music speaks louder than words."

Bloop! Watch out, ladies. If you cant be down for those rap dreams you might get talked about on a track! (Haha happens to the best of us). No, but seriously, Phif puts his emotions on the beat, with a little ego, some mannish clap back and a sense of scrutiny that is all too familiar. Mo'City comes in with the support and bars (just like homies usually do). Clearly being "There" means a little more when it's your girl (and vise versa).

Support ya Bae or get out the way. Comment and let us know what you think of this video.

"I SAID WHAT I SAID" w/ Garahbrie: Consciously Trap Music?

Trap gor gabi.jpg

How long are we going to listen to these trap artists demote women, and promote drugs? That do more harm than good? I am an avid believer in some good old-fashioned trap music, especially while driving. I love the beat, I love the bass, and naturally, a person will learn the words to a song from listening to it over and over again. We use so many of these songs to “turn up” but more increasingly I have noticed that people are taking these words to heart, and not just my guys, my women do this as well. I love artists like Dolph and Moneybagg Yo for the explicit purpose of turning up, getting hype; but these songs also harbor a lot of hate and negativity. These are the lives of men who have been through things, who have turned to drugs for a semblance of financial stability. These are men who have been with women that have hurt them; this is THEIR interpretation, and as catchy as it may seem I really want to challenge others to understand that THIS IS NOT YOUR LIFE. I believe that music has power, and even when you feel like a song can’t be impactful, it can. Why do we listen to sad songs with a low slow beat and depressing lyrics when we’re upset? I am not asking the creators to change their style of music, because why should they have to? I’m simply observing those around me, and asking that you have your own mind. (Not a TRAP song) But just because Toni Romiti feels like “If he a dog, Imma dog too” doesn’t mean that YOU need to be that way, continue to love unconditionally. Just because.

Lorde Fredd33 - SANCTIFIED

Ayeeeeee...Video Alert.

We really want to hear your perspective on this one.

From the Artist Team: In “Sanctified,” Lorde Fredd33 seeks “salvation” by confronting the anger, frustration, and violence of his past. He elevates to a “higher place” as he sheds old skin, facing the next phase of his life. With roots in hip-hop, and influences from contemporary rap, the musical collaborations between Lorde Fredd33 and Q the Sun (which have been extensive over the past three years) are generally classified within those genres, however, the results of their creative process tend to fall more into the jazz and folk idioms. Lorde Fredd33 often refers to his work as Gospel, clarifying that “Gospel is nothing more than spoken word with a higher purpose.” “Sanctified,” the first song on Fredd33’s upcoming album, NORF, is a modern day Gospel song, from it’s chorus - “I feel sanctified” - to its contemplation of daily life - “I roll with artists, killers, dealers, ‘cause they know themselves” - to its sway and chordal tonality. It creates a mood of seeking, a feeling of vulnerability. In regard to NORF, producer Q the Sun adds, “The goal is to present a new sound and mindset; music that depicts a specific place and time, and at the same time transcends that space by opening new possibilities.”

Dirty Thoughts - November Flaws

HUMANS ARE FLAWED.

So can we be fixed?

I have always found myself aware of my flaws. Some of them tend to be more harmful than others (Go figure!) As I analyze others, I often see their flaws first, but tend pull at the positive attributes. Trying to see the human, instead of the monster, the animal, the villain. It is in that I find self-understanding that, flaws can become lessons and lessons have value.

Be accountable for your flaws but not tethered by their wounds. Be  ambitious in your healing. Challenge yourself to #DoBetter

I have taken on the challenge…who else will commit to self repair?

There is a subliminal message here.

“Whatever they say I did. I did it.”

"I SAID WHAT I SAID" w/ Garahbrie: I said I'm Thankful!

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to talk about why I am thankful for CopyWrite Magazine. First and foremost Dirty and Syn. You both have been motivating forces in my life, and I am so grateful for that. My internship has expanded beyond JUST work, This year has been a particularly rough one for me, but I don’t ever have to question either one of you, I know you are there to give a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, a different set of eyes on any given situation, and will have a PLOT with explicit details and timeline before I can even think to! You both advocate for me and tell me when I’m right and wrong. You both have taken me under your wing and I will always be grateful for that, I mean there’s so much more, but we know what it is. It's a business but that isn’t all. I feel good around you two, I feel welcome and wanted, I feel all the love. You both are two of the realest people I have ever met.

CopyWrite as an entity has opened so many doors for me, I have met SO many amazing souls and covered so many events that I now get ASKED to most of the events I attend. I had to learn that everyone isn’t a friend, all events aren’t worth covering, and I don’t ALWAYS have to have something to say. CopyWrite has allowed me to see the city of Milwaukee in a different light. It isn’t all about police and the constant fear of something happening to one of my loved ones, the violence isn’t all this city has to offer. There is dope music, and art; people with goals like me, and though the creative circle here is relatively small, CopyWrite brings awareness and more and more people are here with talent beyond this world! CopyWrite has allowed me to open my eyes and expand my horizons. CopyWrite has allowed me to GLOW!

...and oh my goodness I am thankful for my press pass. That thing is my BFF!

What are you thankful for? It is never too late to mend that broken relationship.

Close your eyes; imagine you are in a crisis...

WHO are YOU calling?

Now reach out to them, and tell them you appreciate them, and stick to that person. There are a lot of people out here who WANT to see you down and out, yet you would call THAT PERSON in your time of need.

That’s real.

Now GO BE THANKFUL!
