Liza Jane - VITAMINS

COVID-19 has ruined everything but creativity. One thing that remains untouched is the music. Music is so important, it drives everything like your mood, your sanity and your life--well, at least for me. If you’re not taking advantage of this time to expand your musical taste then “ion think you quarantinin’’ right.” I’ll tell you guys a short story… just because I’m a nice person. So there was this person right? They wanted to be a supportive *hint hint*. They didn’t want to be a bum anymore. They really wanted to listen to new music but didn’t know where to start. They had no idea that I was about to plug them with this best idea they had all week: stream Liza Jane.

Be that person--here’s your sign (LOL)

Liza Jane is back with another great song that is just perfect for the climate of this quarantine. Some people are wasting their time and some people are making the most of it. Some people are even finding themselves and facing themselves head on. That’s what “VITAMINS” is all about. Word on the street is:

“Her bright yet haunting vocal performance pairs unexpectedly with up tempo trap-like instrumentals from producer ThatguyEli. With this unlikely combination of genre, Vitamins fosters the success of her performance and sound from her previous project with a newfound delivery that will have you wanting to press replay once the song is through."

Did it sell you? ‘Cause it sold me!

“Trying to be a little more sure of myself” is the very first line of the song. This is off top telling  us that this one is going to be personal. The chorus takes us on a trip of Jane reflecting on herself. “Working on myself all the time, trying to play it cool like things are fine” is really sending me because girl, I get it. I think people often forget that people are always fighting battles against themselves. While no, it’s no one’s business, it’s important to know that while people are figuring themselves out, it is extremely difficult to hide that journey from others (referring to “trying to play it cool like things are fine). The chorus goes on to talk about more of a clarity moment where she is trying to figure herself out. She doesn’t seem to know what she’s missing in her life. She comes face to face with herself. She’s beginning to piece together fragments of her life and noticing that she still has a lot to figure out.

I think this is a really pretty song especially if you can relate to it. I think the song is very vulnerable in a way that’s empowering. #girlpower! She’s basically like yeah, I don’t have it all figured out but that doesn’t mean i’m not working on it. Me too, Liza. Me too. I think it’s extremely liberating to even have a real conversation with yourself. Recognizing the beauty of not knowing what’s ahead but knowing that you're worth more than what you've been through is a helluva moment. “Being played like a chess piece” is not something to be proud of but it happens to the best of us. Learning from life and applying it to yourself is key in the “self discovery journey”. It’s okay to not be okay sometimes but what matters is the way you bounce back. And in this case, take your vitamins. (get it?)

Ladies, if you’re in your feels, do yourself a favor and cope--with this song. Thank you Liza Jane for yet another super cool song! Check her out! #Supportthelocal! And it’s the song’s first day out so be nice, be kind and be obedient. Do what it is that I ask of you :)

Liza Jane - UnHappy Birthday

You would think that your birthday would be your favorite holiday because of the obvious--It’s the only day of the year that’s focused on you (or so you’d think). This is the one day of the year that you can do whatever you want because… you don’t even need a reason besides the fact that you were born today, duh. But Liza Jane takes that happy day and shows us that it’s not always rainbows and butterflies.

“Taking influences from jazz pop hip-hop soul and R&B Liza Jane cultivates a borderline experimental sound captivating audiences with her dynamic lyricism and vocal ability . "Internet girl no1", her freshman project released this September, connected with the masses reaching both highs and lows through its unapologetic honesty about being a young woman in 2019. She hopes to continue this buzz with this single, as it brings in those same vibes that helped her stand out in her project,

Unhappy Birthday is out now on all streaming platforms.”

Beginning with a soft and gentle piano build up, Liza invites us into her birthday celebration with simplistic visuals and a soothing, calm voice. Her singing dialect is comparable to Florence + The Machine, which is super cool honestly because we don’t have a lot of that sound here in MKE. She starts off by asking us a simple question, “am I better off on my own?” Well, just like the next line, we don’t know but what we do know is that this short, sweet, why do we let love ruin our birthday song is definitely the move.

Whether you were alone for the holidays due to a recent breakup, lingering on a past lover or literally just like listening to slower sad music, Liza Jane is your girrrrrl.

Heart this post and go head and stream Unhappy Birthday by Liza Jane and let us know what ya think.

Liza Jane - Skinny Jeans & Bucket Hats (Official Video)

A few weeks ago we did a review on Liza Jane’s single, “Skinny Jeans & Bucket Hats,” which we thought was a great song that would keep you having those ‘summer feels’ for just a little while longer. But since today marks the official first day of Fall (legit crying right now), I guess it’s time to wave goodbye to the summer memories and accept the Fall season....

SIKE! We don’t care ‘bout dat! Lol

We’re going to keep these summer feels going for as long as the weather permits. And if Liza Jane’s single gave us those feels, you know her music video was going to do the same. The video concept was dope. We loved the playground shots with all of the kids playing (which is something you rarely see anymore). Overall the video was fun!

And for all of you Fall fans, you’d still enjoy it because in a few shots of the video some of the colors are hues of dead leaves, you know, to really give off that fall vibe y’all love so much...but hey, I’m not hating on your preference of season *shrugs*.

Anywho, check out her video and yeah...Happy Fall :)

Liza Jane - Skinny Jeans & Bucket Hats

Bucket-Hats-Cover-Art5.jpg

I understand Summer is almost over and we are all in our feelings about it (or is that just me? Yes? Okay cool lol). But before the Summer comes to an end, I want y’all to check out a song that’ll keep you having those ‘summer feels’ for just a little while longer. ‘Skinny Jeans and Bucket Hats’ is Liza Jane’s first single off her newest project dropping this upcoming Fall, and this track gives y’all a tease of the expressive vocal range you can expect from her release.

If you haven’t heard of Liza before, she is a multi-faceted neo-soul singer from Wisconsin, and for the rest of 2019 she’s someone who should be on your radar. And I did a little digging about Ms. Jane and found out she will be featured on NilexNile’s upcoming Midwest tour starting in September.

So as soon as her album “Internet Girl No.1” drops, get to know the lyrics early so you can vibe out to her concert all Fall. Congrats to you, girl!
