MNTRY - Back Of This Uber (Video)

Y’all nasty! Annnhhhhh but we ain't’ judging! Lol

MNTRY (formally known as Tr3y) is coming through with his music video directed by PhillyFlyBoy called, Back Of This Uber.

Self explanatory title, MNTRY, is cueing about the possibilities of what can happen on the ride home with his lucky lady friend. Not wanting to wait for that 30 minute ride to pass, he offers a more adventurous option of a lustful ride.

With classic R&B vocals, and a modern pin on another way to get “it”, you guys are sure to like this one.

As always, Safety first. . .

Wear a SEATBELT!

Cilantro Boombox - Master Plan ft. Kalu James

Cilantro Boombox - Master Plan ft. Kalu James

Concerned with fickle things? Trying to see the joy in this very moment?

Well you are not the only one.

Coming out of ATX (How long has it been since we have been there?) this time around is a track from Cilantro Boombox featuring Kalu James. Master Plan gives scenic sound of feelings, calls to carry on, and rhythmic soul. “Drawing from diverse musical backgrounds, Austin’s 8-piece ensemble Cilantro Boombox implements elements of Latin, Pan-African, brass band, and electronic music creating an energetic, positive vibe that flows from the dance floor through your body and soul.”

The mash up with Kaula James, on guitar and vocals “continues to blend and cultivate his musical influences of psychedelic soul, driving rock & roll, and the rhythms of his African homeland.”

Though this is not our normal submission vibe, it’s quite refreshing to here melodic tones paired with subtle imagery and ethnic roots.

Catch this wave with us, hit that heart button and refresh your soul.

Young Deuces - No Mercy ft. Dear Silas

image.png

Who has been on your music radar throughout this “pandemonium” pandemic?

With consciousness, authenticity, truth seeking, and the empowerment of the Black voice being one of our save and grace, Dear Silas has been one of those names. So just imagine how excited we were to see that one of our highly connected MKE based creatives, Young Deuces, has partnered up with Dear Silas to bring us a new track that has some elevation and novelty to perceptions that all too often go unnoticed.

Produced by super producer K. Mel Beatz, “No Mercy” is a powerful but clean track of melodic undertones, descriptive lyrics, on edge with the mental olympics it takes to get through life. [How relevant is that?]

Though this is not feel good music, it’s REAL good music and that’s what we respect. The creative play through hard topics, that sometimes take on moods that we all feel but are too consumed to discuss. As Young Deuces and Dear Silas navigate the beat for 4 minutes and 18 seconds you become moved, reflective and centered in this fight [for whatever we are still fighting for}.

Plus with some pop culture cover art referencing that Naruto anime style its at minimum worth a listen, a play back and then a playlist add.

Thank us later.

Shonn Hinton & Shotgun - RELOADED (album)

Does anyone make real music anymore? Well that answer is YES, Shonn Hinton & Shotgun does!

Lost in our submission inbox from 2020’s crazy backup was this gem of funky song escalations, groaning vocals and a power play of live instrument over live instrument that seems effortless.

We need some of this feel it, the real it, feel good music in our lives. So just take a listen and vibe out! We will definitely be trying to catch a show when this world gets a little more “RELOADED”.

Jay Hvrt - “Whatever Happened To... Robot Jones” EP

robot .jpeg

“I hope you eatin’ good, but I ain't giving out the plates”  - ‘Robot Jones’

(Mannnnnnnnn…..listen!)

It’s a method to this madness and that madness is PRODUCTION! As we say around these ways, ‘Stop playin in people's faces’ and we put that line on anyone who is sleeping on Jay Hvrt.

Re-branding himself from “Jay Yung” his 2020 EP “Whatever Happened To... Robot Jones” is a quick jump through the fire with some heavy bars, a swift but deep cadence and some production movement we are not sure how to describe yet. New sounds and no samples! Also produced 75% by Jay Hvrt himself. But its expected. We have not been the same until his project CLVRITY, came through.

Don’t worry Jay, we will be hitting you for your CopyWrite Magazine interview soon enough.

Now put this one on y’all playlist.

Tre$o - No Hook ( video + more submission)

There is no need to front. Our Submission inbox is back up with music and videos from creatives pouring out there hearts through 2020. As everyone was trying to get there voices heard are team was too trying to stay a float.

All that being said, this submission was found in that stack. Name not really seen before in our files but a quick peek to see if there was something to share. Tre$o made a quick impression with a list of links to his work and this YouTube Video ‘No Hooks’ of the clutch with some scrappy bars, 414 reppin’ and that young freedom that has not been tainted  by the way music move around here [well not yet at least].

From Milwaukee, but currently living in ATL this artist may be vibin’ with that hunger we like to see from a youngin’. We shall see where that takes him.

Let us know what y’all think. Keep it in rotation or nah?

We could’ve never imagined what 2020 had in store for us. Despite the challenges, we’re committed to connecting Milwaukee through real stories. Meet us on January 20th at 7pm for our first StorySlam of 2021, where we invite tellers to share stories on the theme ‘Milwaukee’.

In the second half of season 12, we’re using themes like: ‘Milwaukee’, ’Self’, and ‘Winning’ to prompt some of the season’s greatest stories yet! We’re kicking it all off by Reimagining the city we call home. ‘ReImagining Milwaukee’ will inspire stories about community, home, leadership, resilience, special spots, ugly truths and more! This competitive slam is virtual; Zoom entry starts at 6:30pm and stories begin at 7pm on January 20th.

Our Brave Space affinity workshops are back by popular demand. These focused workshops are open to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) from all across the city at no cost to attendees; dates listed on www.exfabula.org/tickets/. Can’t get enough of local stories? Tune in to 104.1 fm or stream from riverwestradio.com every Sunday from 3:30pm-4pm as co-hosts Michaela Lacy and Nicole Acosta revisit stories from past slams and events.

COVID-19 continues to affect many homes financially. Our ‘Pay it forward tickets’ will keep our events & workshops accessible. How it works: Purchase a ticket to any of our slams or workshops and purchase one for someone else to enjoy! Community members can request these free tickets, which are supported by contributions from members and donors. More information available on our website, http://www.exfabula.org/.

Our programming is more accessible than ever since going virtual. We’ve designed highly interactive and virtual workshops created just for businesses, schools, and community groups. Want to collaborate? Let’s chat! Or visit exfabula.org/host

Start the new year off right by experiencing the collective power of storytelling. Visit our website at exfabula.org/tickets to learn more about our upcoming programming.

Ex Fabula is a nonprofit that has been connecting Milwaukee through real stories since 2009.
