Mike Shammo - Another point of View

MS.jpeg

Mirror mirror on the wall, has there ever been a song that made me fall back into that deep black pit chain of deep overthinking about what makes things the way they are and changes my perspective on a topic for the 100th time?? Yes! After listening to Mike Shammo’s new song ‘Another Point of View’ I definitely started to spiral into something slight of an Alice in Wonderland rabbit hole, BUT in a good way!!!

There’s really something special about the ability to be able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes and being able to see something from a different perspective, even if you are not physically able to place yourself in that situation. Understanding that everyone sees and perceives things differently from the next is the greatest thing about the world we live in and Mike exhibits this understanding through a beautiful melodic hymn.

To quote Mike, make it your choice to keep your focus on what glows! Let us know what you think of their new hit and give their page some love!

Virghost- IDGAF [video submission]

Looking for a new and improved way to tell someone you don’t care without seeming like you’re coming off too harsh while ALSO putting them on to some dope new music?? Send them Virghost’s fire hit, ‘IDGAF’. Coming in hot with slick lyrics that seem to just be spitting out his mouth with ease.

One word? Hard. Enough said?

Right off the bat the beat comes in swinging with the same energy as the visuals of the video. I don’t know what more you could possibly ask for. Just by tuning in to the lyrics you can tell Virghost is his most individual, independent and unique self. He DGAF!

Make sure y’all shoot him a follow on IG and listen to this track and tell us if he hit it outta the park with this one!

India and The Jones - Caught in the Middle

IT BELONGS IN A MUSEUM! Is what archeologists will say when they discover India and The Jones’ new track ‘Caught In The Middle’ in 500 years. If you're a person who is looking for something new to lose yourself in that involves superb imaging and even more beautiful audio, I would highly suggest taking a peek at what they have in store for you here.

This work of art is the epitome of a programmatic musical presentation, if you looked up programmatic in the dictionary, this would be there. I can’t even lie, there were a couple times I thought I was watching a movie or a gameplay of someone, and there was a whole story behind it, it all just felt so nostalgic. Correct me if I’m wrong, but, this seemed to me to be a perfect mixture of Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, Sims AND Winx Club all combined and I enjoyed all 3 minutes and 45 seconds of it, times 10 (because I couldn't hold myself to stop listening to it)! 10/10 would recommend to your best friend.

I couldn’t tell what was better, the lyricism and vocals filled with soul or the graphics and storytelling of the video that would put all Wattpad writers to shame, I guess you could say I was caught in the middle *wink wink*.

Gone ‘head and throw them a like and smash that subscribe button on their youtube channel: India and The Jones and follow their insta: @indiaandthejones.

B Justice - The Kee [album submission]

Looking for hot new tracks to bump with your hair blowing in the wind while you’re tippin on        I 95? Well, your search ends here because B Justice is determined to gas you TF up with his new and upcoming album ‘THE KEE’.

The album features artists such as Sawyer Gibson, Ray Justice, Troy Tyler, Destinee Lynn, Young Focus, Richon Martena, Mac Hefner, Baby Drew, Jadakiss and Godxilla. Giving major deja vu moments with the sick lyrics, throwback melodies and flyer than fly a** vocals.

Sit back, relax and jam as B Justice applies pressure and takes you on a journey of rhythm and base, he’s sure to show you somethin’ you ain’t used to! The hit single of the album ‘Stand in the light’ features vocals by Troy Tyler that gives the summer block party, beaming sun, getting money quickness with a hint of latin spice type vibe that’s for sure easy to get down with. Like ‘In the heights’ if you will. Play this for any little lady you’re with and she’s sure to start shaking her hips in a tango fashion.

Take a listen and let us know if he showed you yet that he’s purely the essence of the best.

Black Box Fund is hosting a six-week

Summer series Out of the Box, featuring Cracking ArtJune 20 to August 1, 2021

Black Box Fund has announced a series of events that is sure to inspire, entitled Out of the Box. Out of the Box is a six-week series of family-friendly performances, workshops and more taking place along Lake Michigan’s shore south of Discovery World at Lakeshore State Park. Over 75 local non-profits, entertainers, artists and businesses will enliven this summer with multifaceted experiences highlighting a range of national and international awareness events—from African American Music Appreciation to World Nature Conservation. These events will run from June 20 to August 1, 2021. [See full Out of the Box schedule at https://blackboxfund.org/].

“Black Box Fund’s team is passionate about artists of all kinds—musicians, dancers, visual artists, poets, whatever art form someone may be doing—and supporting the creative experiences that happen when artists meet their publics. Seeing them do their work in real life and real time is always extraordinary.” - Marilu Knode, Executive Director of Black Box Fund

At the heart of the event is the commissioned sculptural installation REbirth by artistic movement Cracking Art. REbirth features 22 five-foot-tall, brightly colored swallows, made of “regenerable” plastic. Cracking Arts main desire is to create a sense of wonder that can bring pleasure while highlighting the overwhelming presence of plastic in our lives. “We primarily choose urban spaces rather than those dedicated specifically to art in order to trigger unexpected emotions, expel routine from everyday places, and allow for the reflection of a space with new eyes. Our hope is that this relationship can inspire creativity and a different point of view for observing the surrounding reality.” Cracking Art interview Oubliette magazine.

Black Box Fund has committed to bring the community together around art and highlight the broad diversity of creativity that this city has to offer. When asked about the event, Doug McDonald, Board President of Black Box Fund, said “We look at this as moving out of a mental box, not just a physical one, and expanding our connection with the creative community and with the community at large. Our mission is to create welcoming, family-friendly, open gatherings that really draw people from all aspects of the community.”

[Learn more at http://www.crackingart.com].

With live music, guided tours, food trucks and lots of outdoor space for safe communal engagement, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy throughout the summer. Everyone is welcome. Black Box Fund believes that it is important to engage with all its community, sharing in the multifaceted ways in which we exist.

JOSH JENKINS- CHOP WOOD, CARRY WATER [PROD.BY SPACECRIMEBEATZ] (Video Submission)

We needed to hear this one.

Sometimes you just have to do the work, put in the time, and feel the struggle.

Josh Jenkins is reteaching us this lesson with his track “Chop Wood, Carry Water”. The video shows Josh solo, just telling us what the “real” is. The practice of artistry here  is the subtle gems piecing together something we know to be fact: You have to live it out.

Where some for a quick fix, we respect this message with much more kudos.

#WeeSeeYou Josh!

Dubb Saq - Dubb is Down (EP Submission)

dubb1.jpg

If heartbreak produces this type of work, babyyyyyyy make it hurt!

Dubb Saq is coming in strong with his EP Dubb is Down. Coming out of a heavy breakup, his music now seems matured and reflective. With a clean 5 tracks he stays on the topic [whoever ol’ girl is must be feeling ‘some type of way’]. It’s clean production. Melodic with cutting lyricism. Its fresh enough for the new era of synthesized hip hop listeners but still structured enough for the seasoned to ride the wave.

Our favorite track without a doubt is “i could never”, because real rap raw. . . WE COULD NEVER! And of course we will be adding it to our #CWApproved Spotify playlist.

When you need some music for the love-aftermath. . . This is the EP for the moment.

A.C. the Ruler - The Perfect Intro/555 (Video Submission)

It’s an aesthetic.

Not just the visuals but the sound. It takes you to a nostalgic place of the not so far past, but maybe the present is too close, and the future, well . . . unknown.

The words are too, reminiscent of days we had much to say but way more to show. It’s eloquent but spacey. It’s hip hop but as poetic as spoken word.

That is the sound as much as it is sight.

It is “The Perfect Intro/555” by A.C. the Ruler.
