Local2Local - Natural Mystic Co.

My Local2Local this month, has Black Girl Magic sprinkled all over it and it will keep your glow from never dimming a wink.

So meet Natural Mystic; an Austin-based (but Wisconsin started) company skincare line. Their products are “handcrafted in small batches to ensure that each one is created with love + good intentions.” Owned and operated by Nyesha Lashay (@nyeshalashay), this graduate student is not only enhancing the skin you’re in but promoting self-love along with bringing forth your inner natural mystic. #WeWokeUpLikeThis

But in reality, your skin changes when you move across country. Sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worst. It has to do with a lot of changes happening to not only your life but in general, the water and climates your body is use to are different. So usually you have to change up your face cleaning regimens to keep your skin in the best shape. For me, I’ve finally have my new skin regimen down packed and that includes a lot of masks and deep cleaners...i.e. why I had to try out Natural Mystic’s products.

Syn’s review of The Elements Pack:

IMG_4503.JPG

What it includes: The Moroccan earth mask + the zen hydration jelly ($30 + shipping)

IMG_1204.JPG

The Moroccan earth mask: It smelled great and had the texture of a deep cleansing scrub with the color of brown clay (hence the Moroccan earth haha). It was smooth to apply and dried in about 10 minutes. I prefer to leave my masks on for the time it takes to watch a full episode of a cartoon (20/30 minutes). The mask made my face feel tight and rejuvenated right away.

IMG_8451.JPG

The Zen hydration jelly: A little bit went a long way. I used about the size of a dime to apply to my whole face. However it did leave my face smelling good and my skin was soft and GLOWING.

Overall: The purchasing process was simple. I got an email when I could expect my package (It came a day earlier but I am in the Austin area.) I also liked that the website included a quick 2-step process to make sure I knew what I was doing.

It was a little more expensive than something I would normally purchase for my face but it was worth it to support a Woman of color business and get a handmade quality product.

I think I’ll be using this pairing at least once a week to make sure my skin is on point and beaming.

Support this boss lady business by following them on Instagram for some self-love and self care motivation. Or support them now by buying the products on http://naturalmystc.bigcartel.com/ I'm eyeing more products on the site as I type.

Leave a comment below and tell me your self-care secrets and other skin care regimens you love. I'm listening. /Syn

#WCW Mikey C. Apollo

It’s really simple (we think).

When you put good energy in the world and you work really hard; you get that energy back from the universe. That’s why picking our #WCW wasn’t really hard this time around and well; it is Capricorn season.

Chico Manolo - Touch Me Tease Me

*PARENTAL ADVISORY EXPLICIT CONTENT*

Sometimes an artist gets a little raunchy.  wild and OC with the tongue (only a slight pun intended lol). This new track “Touch Me Tease Me”, from Chico Manolo is explicitly descriptive and possibly a little too hot to handle.

But if you're going to say it, well, you better give it your all! We live in a day and age where covert sexual innuendos have been sideswiped by the bold remarks of “this is exactly what I got for that a** “. Sometimes it's uncomfortable, and other times we have to admit, that no matter how brazen the lyrics, it was exactly what we were thinking. (I mean that is what happens when you use a 90's R&B sample)

Chico took a risk with this one. Might make a few people sweat, make some other drop their draws, make a few mad but the controversy of “Ooo You nasty!” is definitely worth a listen.

Check out this track. We really want some feedback this time around. Do you think he took it to far or steamed it up just right??? Leave a comment!

Dirty Thoughts: Reflections of Reflections

lex life 2017.jpg

2017...You Bi*ch You!

We were supposed to be friends and you faked me out like a sucker!

Even with all that... I still loved you anyway.

Why? Because that's life!

It was prophesied that I would have an eventful year. That I would experience unexplainable wonders and have the time of my life. I was geeeeeeked. Oh, yes! By all means the prophecy held true, I just didn't factor in that some of those “wonders” would drop kick me through a wormhole then spit me out. I didn't consider the negative. I forgot to be mindful of the balance.

Let’s get personal:

This year I said goodbye to some deadweight. I applied to grad school and got in. My best friend and little sister moved away. My brother died. I found out that the man of my dreams was in love with me (we SZA’d Weekend that mess and started WWIII).  Dirty (for all intensive purposes) turned into “Dirtaña”. I put some people in some bad positions, and couldn’t fix it (karma me). I hit the east coast, the west coast, down south and parts in between. I went to Lambeau field (Thank you lawd my football dreams have been made!). I found out that being blonde makes you a target and that enemies & fans are one in the same (watch your back).

With all that my vision got a bit blurry, the good got messy and the messy got good, and ya girl forgot to “BREATHE!” (Like my favorite Fabolous song). Now that my year is coming to an end, I’m on an up, but that up comes with a thorough understanding that there is a balance that comes with “eventful”. It's not all “unicorns and glitter!” (In my Progressive Flo voice), in order to get what you need, you have to confront your fears and suck up all that pride and say, “Self...you gotta do better!”

So here is my formal apology to anybody who thought they were going to ride this low with me or anybody who thought my word was not going to be bond this time around. Unfortunately, for yall I'm not going to keep taking these killer L’s and letting yall suck the soul out of me.

LET ME BE GREAT!

Phif Featuring Mo’City-There

"Check out the Video for Phif’s only 2nd single. Plays out the story of him and his then wife who didn’t support him and his dreams. At the end, he pours out his feelings in the studio where he calls home. Music speaks louder than words."

Bloop! Watch out, ladies. If you cant be down for those rap dreams you might get talked about on a track! (Haha happens to the best of us). No, but seriously, Phif puts his emotions on the beat, with a little ego, some mannish clap back and a sense of scrutiny that is all too familiar. Mo'City comes in with the support and bars (just like homies usually do). Clearly being "There" means a little more when it's your girl (and vise versa).

Support ya Bae or get out the way. Comment and let us know what you think of this video.

"I SAID WHAT I SAID" w/ Garahbrie: Consciously Trap Music?

Trap gor gabi.jpg

How long are we going to listen to these trap artists demote women, and promote drugs? That do more harm than good? I am an avid believer in some good old-fashioned trap music, especially while driving. I love the beat, I love the bass, and naturally, a person will learn the words to a song from listening to it over and over again. We use so many of these songs to “turn up” but more increasingly I have noticed that people are taking these words to heart, and not just my guys, my women do this as well. I love artists like Dolph and Moneybagg Yo for the explicit purpose of turning up, getting hype; but these songs also harbor a lot of hate and negativity. These are the lives of men who have been through things, who have turned to drugs for a semblance of financial stability. These are men who have been with women that have hurt them; this is THEIR interpretation, and as catchy as it may seem I really want to challenge others to understand that THIS IS NOT YOUR LIFE. I believe that music has power, and even when you feel like a song can’t be impactful, it can. Why do we listen to sad songs with a low slow beat and depressing lyrics when we’re upset? I am not asking the creators to change their style of music, because why should they have to? I’m simply observing those around me, and asking that you have your own mind. (Not a TRAP song) But just because Toni Romiti feels like “If he a dog, Imma dog too” doesn’t mean that YOU need to be that way, continue to love unconditionally. Just because.
