As Voting is under way, we want to make sure our community is listening, understanding what is at stake and why their vote matters. So for the next few weeks we will be sharing videos featuring local artist who have a creative take on the subject.

Wisconsin Conservation Voices, the Milwaukee Repertory Theater have partnered to produce four music videos featuring local up-and-coming Milwaukee artists, with financial support from Northwestern Mutual. The artist’s messages are clear: “Make Change” and “Show Up.” The goal was to give these artists the opportunity to express themselves in the medium that speaks to them: music.

Milky Way Tech Hub Partners with American Family Institute and P5 Project to award $15,000 to Startups. Uncrowd.io, MB Collab and MKE Black to Curate a Series of Workshops for Founders

MILWAUKEE, WI (October 13, 2020) –

This week the Milky Way Tech Hub announced its annual pitch competition. The Milky Way Tech Hub has partnered with American Family Institute and P5 Project to award up to $15,000 equity free funding to deserving startups. This year the event will be held virtually on November 17th giving access to a national audience. 

The goal of the Milky Way Tech Hub is to provide capital, entrepreneurial and tech education for promising startups in the Midwest while actively creating an ecosystem in Milwaukee where Black people and POC can thrive in technology.

 

“As the Milky Way Tech Hub continues to spearhead efforts of creating equitable opportunities in Milwaukee’s tech ecosystems we realize that it is critical to create programming and policies that advance Wisconsin's innovation ecosystem and support Wisconsin's startup founders in a way that attracts and retains talent.”say’s Milky Way Tech Hub founder, Nadiyah Johnson. “While this is a national pitch event we look forward to providing this opportunity to the brilliant and budding startups in Milwaukee”.

A series of workshops will precede the big event to educate startups on topics that range from how to curate a winning pitch deck to showing the process of building successful community apps. The Milky Way Tech Hub presents these workshops in partnership with Uncrowd.io, MB Collab and MKE Black.

Uncrowd – Intro to Pitching – October 20th – 8:00pm  

MB Collab - Strategic Testing: Reduce risk through testing and learning November 12th

MKE Black - Behind the Tech of MKE Black – October 29th 6pm

Entrepreneurs leading early stage technology startups from a variety of industries are encouraged to apply for The Milky Way Tech Hub Annual Pitch Competition. Selected finalists will compete on a virtual stage during the pitch competition for funding.
