BoFaat - Loyalty feat. Taiyamo Denku x RamBunxious x Sara Seashell
/This song makes me wanna grab my bike and ride around listening to music like in the movie Dope. This song definitely gives me 90’s vibes, which has been an trending aesthetic in music lately, and I’m all here for it.
Biggie’s voice coos in the background throughout the song; while Taiyamo Denku delivers powerful metaphors that represent strength and power from the mindset of a man.
Then we get to Sara Seashell, who is singing the hook of the song. Very smooth voice almost gives me Emily King-ish vibes. I love when mellow flows are used with strong lyrics, the contrast it creates is always just so damn cool.
Last but not least we have the powerful outro flow from the artist by the name of RamBunxious. His words voice power, unity, and the strength that we have as people. Whenever there’s talk of unity, my ears are always listening, plus I can’t help but not wanna play this song next time when my family has a cookout. The whole song just screams ‘good vibes only’, and I’m definitely watching for more from these guys in the future.
Once again, we love to see it.

Sky Phreshh- Raised by Wolves
/It’s the samples for me!
Skyy Huncho recently released his album “Raised by Wolves.” The album includes seven diverse tracks with constant wordplay, flow and nostalgic samples. Two of my favorite song from Huncho’s latest work is “She-Wolf” and “Dead Press.” “She-Wolf” samples Teyanna Taylor’s “Gonna Love me” (which sampled The Delfonics’ “I gave to you”) and is about Huncho’s love for a girl, while trying to work on their relationship and build together. While “Dead Press” samples Nas’ Dead Presidents, the song’s honesty and tribute to Nas makes it amazing. The constant theme of wolves on the album cover, album title and track names is consistent and clever.
Make sure you check Milwaukee’s very own, Skyy Preshh’s debut album!

Kaylon Raps - Feelings (feat. Lianna Dunae)
/We all love a vibe, right? If so, you’ll want to check out Kaylon Raps’ latest single Feelings featuring Lianna Dunae.
Feelings is an easy listen that you can vibe to anywhere. Kaylon’s flow and use of wordplay takes the song to the next level. While Dunae’s soft and chill voice adds the perfect combination of rap and r&b. Kaylon has only released a few tracks so far and I’d say he’s off to a fantastic start.
Check out his latest singles on all major streaming platforms, you won’t regret it.

Cj Folds - Daddy’s Girl
/Our first quarantine break this year really changed the lives for everyone, especially the parents of our youth. It’s been a challenge and it’s still an ongoing process. I really want to commend all the parents who have been juggling careers while still making sure their children are still receiving their education. I’ve seen a lot of y’all really step up, and from people like me who don’t have kids yet, I just want to say you are all appreciated. However, it’s not been easy for everyone, a lot of dad's weren’t given the opportunity to see their children during this time, and it has not always been by choice. There are many active father’s involved in their children’s lives, and if they genuinely want to raise these kids I think it’s unfair that bitter emotions can drive wedges between the relationships that are trying to be built. Some people have lost their father’s, and that type of pain never fully heals. I think that’s why I was able to vibe with this song from Cj Folds, Daddy’s Girl.
Cj Folds managed to create a hip-hop ballad showcasing the love and affection between father and daughter, and now the daughter’s father is no longer around. You hear the sadness in his voice as he describes the changes the daughter is going through since he is unable to be near her. She is his princess, and you can feel the pain he is experiencing. I know in times like these nobody wants to keep hearing about the negative sh*t going on, but with emotions like this we just simply ignore them.
Rap does not always have to be aggressive, and Cj Folds proves this with a soft song with a hard impact. From the catchy but heartbreaking chorus and the love language given in between the song’s metaphors, this song made me appreciate my own father more, and all that he has done for me since reaching adulthood. With the beautiful visual accompanied with this song, I can’t wait to hear more of what Cj Folds has in the future. Shout out to all the Dads out there who truly love those babies and R.I.P to the ones we’ve lost.
We love to see it.

WillOnWater - T(r)AP WATER
/The thing I’ve always loved about music is that it’s universal. Music can relate to any mood a person is feeling. I’m going to admit if you ask me who my favorite artist is (Drake, J. Cole, etc) it’s always going to be someone mainstream. Because of that this year I told myself that I would listen to all types of music and give people the props that they deserve. This project by Milwaukee artist WillOnWater is definitely one of them.
WillOnWater dropped his latest mixtape T(r)AP WATER this past August. I know music is personal for everyone so we all hear things differently, but y’all I was really feeling this little record. With how shitty things have been on my end for a little bit, I can always count on good music. I listened to it about four times before I even wrote this. You can hear the dedication that was given to create this record, and its arrangement was nicely put together. It was different from the stereotypical “Milwaukee” sound I’m used to hearing, and we all know what sound that is…no need to elaborate.
One of the highlights of the album is the track Fixyourenergy. WillOnWater has the talent of having cocky lyrics on the most smoothesttttt beats….while still seeming humble and sincere. His lyrics address those who have been wondering where he’s been for the past two years with his music ambitions, but makes it very clear; he still had the bag. As a firm believer in positive and manifestation; best believe you gotta come correct with the right energy, and WillOnWater makes it very clear to fix that negative shit. In the song Stripes one of the first lines of the song pulled me in immediately, “Ni**a you get what you give.” Here WillOnWater talks about life and that he had endured enough to learn his stripes. It’s an everyday grind, and he states he hustles everyday and he earned everything he owns. He again addresses his haters and shows love to the ones that support him. [Can’t focus on your own bag when you’re focused on someone else’s. I felt that shit.]
He softens things up in his songs Novacane and Cross Your Heart. This is where the Drake’n starts. I needed to hear songs from our Black men that express love for Black women, and these definitely delivered. “She numb the pain just like novacane.” Novacane a trap love song. The anonymous subject has it all in WillOnWater’s eyes, and her radiance is beautiful enough to ease any pain he’s experiencing. Cross Your Heart is an ode to his lover while asking if she’s down for the long haul. “Natural highs in the sky” he raps when describing his love for her, and he describes the true work it takes to make their relationship successful.
I could pick this record apart piece by piece, but that defeats the purpose of actually discovering music, so I’ll leave that up to y’all, but this is a solid record in my book. The shining moments of this mixtape is what’s keeping me anticipating on more to come. Keep up the good work; I think you got something good here. Make sure you check it out, music is available on streaming platforms. Check out the visuals too! It was probably hard af to shoot visuals with the Rona around.
We love to see it.
